    Summer officially kicks off in Crested Butte this June, and the calendar is bursting with events that capture the town’s adventurous and creative soul! From the GVC3 Free Film Festival at the Majestic Theatre to the Historic Elk Avenue Walking Tours, there’s a perfect blend of culture, history, and high-altitude fun. Outdoor lovers can dive into rafting adventures on the Taylor River or join a scenic Float ‘n Dine experience with Garlic Mike’s, while families will love storytime at the Old Rock Library and lively Kids Yoga classes at Thrive.

    As the wildflowers start to color the hillsides, Crested Butte buzzes with local flavor, music, and unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re casting a line during a Walk & Wade Fishing trip, stargazing at the Gunnison Valley Observatory’s Premier Astronomy Night, or simply savoring Taco Tuesday at Tully’s, June is packed with reasons to get out and celebrate. Get ready for a month of sunshine, smiles, and pure mountain magic — Crested Butte style!

    Thrive Yoga Crested Butte hosts engaging children’s mindfulness programming led by Ms. Jess and The Mindful Toolbox, offering classes, camps, and kids yoga parties that empower children—typically ages 2-9—to connect with their breath, understand their emotions, and develop lifelong mindfulness tools.     Western Athletics is back again this summer to provide a unique summer camp opportunity to youth in the Gunnison Valley!

    This is the most popular rafting trip. With plenty of whitewater, this trip will get you wet!

    Everyone in the boat paddles while the guides give the commands. It is great fun and no experience is necessary. Minimum age is 12 years old. There may be exceptions depending on the time of year and water levels. Click here to learn more.

    Explore the history and geology of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison with Geologist Steve Jenkins and Historian Duane Vandenbusche.

    You all meet in Gunnison at 8am. Duane and Steve will go over their topics for the day and will head out in the van to make stops along the way. Click here to learn more.

    It is a great option for families with young children or for anyone who would rather float than paddle.

    Join The Crested Butte Museum for a five-day journey throughout the “Colorado Gold and Silver Triangle” for a tour exploring historic and geologic sites with historian Duane Vandenbusche and geologist Steve Jenkins.

    Learn about mining, the landscapes, and more on this educational tour that visits Leadville, Georgetown, Blackhawk, Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Marble and many sites in between. Click here to learn more.

    Join the billy barr community center at 6:00 a.m. for a light breakfast. At 6:20 a.m. You will break up into smaller groups and then walk to the birding areas.

    Birding typically goes all morning, though people are welcome to leave at any time (things usually slow down around 11 a.m.).

    A free lunch will be provided at noon for those that wish to stay around.
