    Western Football Schedule

Western Colorado University Football is a cornerstone of fall in Gunnison, bringing together students, alumni, and the community to cheer on the Mountaineers. Competing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), the team plays its home games at the iconic Mountaineer Bowl—one of the highest elevation football stadiums in the country. Each season carries the excitement of rivalries, road challenges, and the pursuit of playoff opportunities, and 2025 has been no exception.

As we turn to the final quarter of the year, here’s how the schedule shapes up:

    • Fans can look forward to an action-packed October. The Mountaineers hit the road on October 4 to take on Fort Lewis before returning home October 11 against Black Hills State. They’ll travel again on October 18 for a matchup with South Dakota Mines and finish the month back in Gunnison on October 25, facing powerhouse Colorado School of Mines.
    • November will be just as thrilling, starting with a home game against CSU–Pueblo on November 1. The team then travels to Chadron State on November 8 before closing out their regular season at home against Colorado Mesa on November 15. These games will be crucial in determining the Mountaineers’ position in the RMAC standings and potential postseason opportunities.
    • December marks the potential postseason window for teams in NCAA Division II. If the Mountaineers secure a playoff spot, fans can expect the excitement to carry into the holiday season. Until then, the Gunnison Valley will be rallying behind the Mountaineers as they push through their final games of the regular season, ready to make this fall one to remember.

Beyond wins and losses, Western Colorado football represents the true spirit of sportsmanship—where hard work, respect, and community pride shine brightest under the lights. Whether you’re a longtime fan or experiencing your first Mountaineers game, your presence in the stands fuels the energy on the field. So bundle up, grab your red and white, and come cheer on the team—you won’t want to miss the excitement and camaraderie that make these games so special.
