The Beckwith – Mt. Crested Butte’s Next Chapter

The Beckwith is the eagerly anticipated evolution of the long-standing Elevation Hotel & Spa — a staple at the foot of Crested Butte Mountain in Colorado that is in the midst of a major transformation and rebrand.

What Is The Beckwith?

Located at 500 Gothic Road, Mt. Crested Butte, Colorado, The Beckwith is a ski-in, ski-out destination positioned directly at the base of Crested Butte Mountain Resort — a renowned four-season playground nestled in the Elk Mountains.

This site originally operated for years as the Elevation Hotel & Spa, a slopeside property with ski access, spa services, dining, and outdoor adventure offerings. Under new direction, the property is being reimagined with a refreshed identity that honors the area’s rugged history and landscape.

The name itself — The Beckwith — pays tribute to Captain Edward Beckwith, a figure tied to the historic Gunnison–Beckwith Expedition of 1853, which contributed to putting the Gunnison Valley on early explorer maps.

How It’s Transforming

Rather than a simple name change, The Beckwith represents a phased redevelopment of the entire property:

What It Means for the Base Area

The Beckwith isn’t just a new name — it’s part of a deliberate effort to reinvigorate the base of Crested Butte Mountain with spaces that reflect both the natural environment and the culture of the town. The redevelopment is anticipated to be complete in phases with major work aimed to finish by the Winter 2026–27 ski season.

For locals and visitors alike, this means the continuation of a slopeside anchor property with renewed design, thoughtful adaptation to the mountain setting, and expanded residential options for those who want a deeper connection with mountain life.
